December 2013's Natural Disaster Alert

Hello everyone! ;-)

Before going into predictions, I just want to say that I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and wish y'all have a safe trip back home. ;-)

2013 is soon coming to a close, and we got one more month to go through. Will it be a safe one regarding the Earth Changes? This past November sure wasn't, it became the most disastrous month for natural disasters since March 2011 with an apocalyptic killer typhoon in the Philippines, massive tornado outbreak in the American Midwest, floods, and several earthquake scares throughout the month, with the last M 7+ quakes striking on November 17 and November 25. What will December have in store for us? That's the big question; will it match November 2013, surpass it, or be much quieter? Looking at this coming month, I believe it's fair enough to say that December 2013 will most likely come close to November's bouts of fury, being yet again another very active and dangerous month for natural disasters. The main difference this time is that December 2013 is mostly prone to Earthquake, Tsunami, and Landslide disasters in comparison to the past versatile November 2013, which was a BIG Weather-related disaster month. This is what December 2013 may have in store for Earth:

December 6-7:
Most Likely Scenario: Today begins the first risk period of this month, and it's a powerful one at that: Major Earthquake, with possibly severe impacts where it may strike. This period is quite powerful, especially December 6th and is set up for sudden natural disasters, most likely being a powerful earthquake over Magnitude 7.5 that brings much damage. There could be a major Tsunami during this time. 2nd Likely Scenario: Severe Landslide or Flash Flood could occur during these two dates, again most likely on 12/6, and perhaps be very destructive and deadly in nature. This scenario could be provoked by tropical cyclone activity, mainly in the form of typhoons in the West Pacific, or by a severe winter storm. 3rd Possible Scenario: A Severe Weather Event could make the news during these days as well, possibly either a Tornado Outbreak or a Serious Winter/ Coastal Storm. December can still bring severe weather to the Americas and even Europe, where there seems to be a severe storm ongoing right now and may be at play with this scenario as I speak. Main Areas to Watch: For the Earthquake and other possible sudden events: Watch the world's earthquake-prone regions, primarily along the "Pacific Ring of Fire" and any areas recently experiencing earthquake activity, such as South America or Iran for example. Also keep eyes on the Pacific for potential tsunamis, and Southeast Asia and Central America for possible landslides due to heavy rain. For the Storms, including both Non-tropical and Cyclones/Typhoons: Watch the Western Pacific in both the northern and southern hemispheres for any possible tropical cyclones or typhoons. Watch North America, particularly the southern part of the U.S., and Europe for possible severe weather. Aside from areas already mentioned, monitor any other world areas experiencing bad weather then just to be on the safe side. High Risk: The risk for natural disaster during this time is a heavy 40 percent, with the chance for the disaster becoming severe being 30 percent.

December 15:
Most Likely Scenario: Major Earthquake, with possibly significant to severe impacts where it hits, with a chance of Tsunami. This date is set up for a possible sudden natural disaster, most likely being a destructive earthquake around Magnitude 7.0 to even 7.5. This date is intense enough to maybe affect the days right next to it, infusing December 14 and December 16 with a chance of seeing this same event, so the period December 14-16 should be watched just to be on the safe side. 2nd Likely Scenario: Another sudden disaster, possibly in the form of a Tornado Outbreak, Landslide, or Volcanic Eruption could also occur on this date, with possibly significant impacts. Main Areas to Watch: For the Earthquake: Watch the world's earthquake-prone regions, primarily along the "Pacific Ring of Fire" and any areas recently experiencing earthquake activity, such as The Philippines or the South Atlantic for example. For the Landslides, Tornadoes or Volcanoes: Watch Central America as well as Southeast Asia, especially around Taiwan and the Philippines, closely especially for when it comes to floods and landslides that may be caused by severe rains, and Indonesia for volcanoes. Monitor the Southeastern Quadrant of the United States for any possible severe weather episodes that could give rise to tornadoes. Watch other world areas experiencing bad weather by then as well. Significant Risk: The risk for natural disaster during this time is 25 percent with the chance for the event to become severe being 15 percent.

December 18-19:
Most Likely Scenario: Another Major Earthquake is a strong possibility during this time, likeliest on December 18, possibly attaining Magnitude 7.5+ with perhaps severe impacts. 2nd Likely Scenario: A Major Storm, probably a Winter Storm could strike during these dates with potentially significant impacts. This storm could be a Massive Coastal Storm or a Severe Weather System capable of producing all sorts of weather from Snow to Tornadoes. 3rd Possible Scenario: A Typhoon or Cyclone, could be yet another outcome in this potent period. December can still bring Typhoons to the West Pacific, and the South Pacific also begins heating up. With this being such a devastating year for typhoons, it’s a good idea to monitor these areas for any more possible activity as we approach these dates. Main Areas to Watch: For the Earthquake: Watch the world's earthquake-prone regions closely, primarily along the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire and any areas recently experiencing earthquake activity, such as the California or Japan for instance. For the Weather-type Scenarios: Watch the Western Tropical Pacific and the South Pacific around Australia very closely for possible tropical cyclones. The U.S. and Canada, as well as Europe, could be a target for major winter storms, which may bring the threat for Tornadoes in the Southern U.S. and Blizzards in the North. Also keep eyes on the Caribbean region, Central America, and Southeast Asia for heavy rains which could produce floods and mudslides. Watch any other world regions experiencing nasty weather by then. High Risk: The chance for natural disaster during this time is 30 percent with a 20 percent risk for that same disaster to be severe in nature.

December 21:
1st Possible Scenario: Strong Earthquake with possibly moderate impacts could occur on this day, with the Magnitude possibly registering between 6.5 and 7.0. Out of all the risk dates this month this one is the mildest, yet it still deserves mention as there is a chance we could see a damaging earthquake then. 2nd Possible Scenario: Another type of sudden natural disaster could occur on or around this day, most likely in the form of a Landslide, Flash Flood, or Tornado. Again, such events on this date would most likely have moderate impacts. Main Areas to Watch: For the Earthquake: Watch the world's earthquake-prone regions, primarily along the "Pacific Ring of Fire" and any areas recently experiencing earthquake activity, such as Pakistan and the Mediterranean for example. For the other possible events: Watch Southeast Asia and Tropical America for potential landslides and flash floods, and the Southern U.S. for any severe weather that could occur, including some tornadoes. Keep close eyes on any other world regions experiencing bad weather by then. Modest Risk: The chance for natural disaster on this date is 15 percent.

December 23-27:
Most Likely Scenario: Massive Earthquake with possibly severe to catastrophic impacts could occur during this very dangerous period, with the Magnitude possibly registering between 7.5 and 8.5. Out of all the risk dates this month, this one is the worst-looking one, with the central main risk date December 24 having a rare “extreme risk” for natural disaster. There is a chance that the massive earthquake scenario could occur just before or after this date, meaning December 23 or December 25. The last two dates of this period, December 26-27, might also have a major earthquake, possibly being a separate event from whatever occurs around 12/24. There is also a significant risk for a severe tsunami during this whole time-frame as well. It is a powerful risk period perfectly set up for a tsunami disaster. Not only is this the riskiest time period this month, it’s also the time frame is the riskiest natural disaster window of 2013. For perspective, this period is a tad riskier than the November 16-19 period that just passed, which brought a 7.8 quake and the tornadoes in the American Midwest. 2nd Likely Scenario: Another type of major sudden natural disaster could occur during this period, most likely in the form of a Landslide, Flash Flood or even Volcanic Eruption. Impacts from such events could be very severe as well. 3rd Likely Scenario: A potentially devastating, crippling Winter Storm/ Blizzard is another strong possibility for this extremely powerful risk period. Any major winter storm that occurs during this time has the potential to become truly historic, and could bring incredible effects from Snow and Severe Weather. It could prove deadly and destructive. 4th Possible Scenario: Despite being Late December, I can't dismiss the chance for a Major Typhoon, Cyclone, or Tornado Outbreak to make headlines during Christmas Week, due to the unusually negative power of these dates. Should a tropical cyclone exist prior to this date and be heading in the general direction of land, or a tornado outbreak become imminent, the risk for this event scenario will go up significantly. Main Areas to Watch: For the Earthquake: Watch the world's earthquake-prone regions, primarily along the "Pacific Ring of Fire" and any areas recently experiencing earthquake activity, such as Indonesia, American Pacific coasts and the South Atlantic for example. For the other possible events: Watch the northern part of North America and Europe for possible winter storms, particularly the Northeastern U.S. Watch the Western Pacific near the Philippines and Guam, as well as the South Pacific around Australia for potential tropical cyclone action. Keep a very close eye on any other world regions experiencing bad weather by then, as floods and landslides remain a good possibility as well, particularly in East and Southeast Asia. Indonesia is also a hot spot for volcano activity during this time. Extreme Risk: The chance for natural disaster during December 23-27 is a rare 50 percent, with the risk for the disaster being severe being a staggering 40 percent.

December 30:
Most Likely Scenario: In very similar fashion to December 15th, a Powerful Earthquake could strike during these dates with possibly severe impacts. The chance of a Tsunami exists during this date, which is perfectly set up for a sudden natural disaster, most likely being a destructive earthquake around Magnitude 7.5 to even 8.0. This date is intense enough to maybe affect the days right next to it, infusing December 29 and December 31 with the a chance of bringing this same event, so the period December 29-31 should be watched just to be on the safe side. 2nd Likely Scenario: Another Sudden Natural Disaster, such as a Landslide, Tornado, Flash Flood, or Volcanic Eruption, could be the other main outcome of this powerful day. Again, such events could have severe impacts. Main Areas to Watch: For the Earthquake: Watch the world's earthquake-prone regions closely, primarily along the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire and any areas recently experiencing earthquake activity, such as Indonesia or China for instance. For the other sudden scenarios: Watch Southeast Asia and Central America for potential landslides and flash floods. Southeast Asia is also a hotspot for volcanoes, in particular Indonesia. Also watch the Southern U.S. for a possible tornado outbreak. Last but not least, watch any other world regions experiencing nasty weather by then. High Risk: The chance for natural disaster during this time is 30 percent with a 20 percent risk for that same disaster to be severe in nature.

The Month at a Glance:

December 2013 is a very strong follow-up to November, bringing more chances for natural disasters once again, likely being another very active month for disasters globally. There are 6 risk periods this month, in which 3 are “High Risk”, and 1 is even a rare “Extreme Risk”, meaning that December 2013 has about as much potential as November did for natural disasters. With November having been such a devastating month already, it might be a bit tough for December to be worse than November, but the chance that this new month brings a major natural disaster remains very strong. Unlike November 2013, this month seems more inclined to Earthquakes and other Sudden Natural Disasters, and less towards Weather-related disasters (although these are still possible, particularly winter storms and cyclones). December should begin quietly, but then perhaps turn nasty on December 6th and onwards, with the bulk of activity possibly occurring during the 2nd half of the month. The dates 12/6, 12/24, and 12/30 are largely responsible for bringing up this month's disaster risk greatly. Safe to say, December 2013 is set to perhaps challenge November 2013 for being the worst month for Natural Disasters in years, possibly bringing the world 3 to 4 Natural Disasters, of which 2 may be Severe in nature. Of these possible disasters; two may be earthquakes, one may be weather-related, particularly due to a tropical cyclone or winter storm, and the other possible disaster resulting from a landslide, flood or volcano. A Major Tsunami is also a real possibility in December 2013 as well, likely caused by one of the earthquake scenarios. Overall expect another above average month for natural disasters.

In such a month like this, I’ll be once again posting updates very regularly on here my friends. Let's hope the month isn't as bad as it sounds, and have a good time during the upcoming holidays no matter what happens around us! That's the Rat's take on December 2013!

UPDATE #2...12/14/13....@9:54 PM

EARTHQUAKE WATCH FOR DEC. 15
(12/14 - 12/16)

Looks like we have a potent Earthquake date coming up tomorrow, possibly extending some of that energy into Dec. 16. The main risk date is tomorrow, December 15, and it's a significant one at that. This may break the calm we've seen so far this month regarding strong quakes. The map below is the new one for this period. Notice how Central America moved up to the color orange, and how the Middle East is creeping up to green.

EARTHQUAKE RISK MAP
Valid for Dec. 14-16.....Main Risk Day: December 15
Keep in mind the colors' meanings, Orange is for a Significant Risk of seeing a Potentially Damaging M 6.0+ Earthquake striking during these dates, Green is for Medium Risk of seeing the same type of M 6.0+ Earthquake, Blue is for Low Risk of seeing the same type of quake.
(No Color regions also may have some risk, but is sufficiently small to be considered negligible for the period).

UPDATE #3......12/21/13 @ 1:18 AM

TORNADO WATCH FOR SOUTH-CENTRAL U.S. FOR DEC. 21-22

Looks like December 21's event could be a significant tornado outbreak across the Southern U.S. from Texas northeast to Arkansas, Louisiana and even into Alabama/Tennessee. There is strong potential for large, long track twisters later this afternoon into the night, a very rare event for December. Despite the time of year, this developing situation should be taken with extreme precaution since this date does have some chance for sudden natural disaster...which includes the tornado!

UPDATE....12/23/13 @ 11:55 PM

EARTHQUAKE WARNING IN EFFECT FOR DECEMBER 24 - 25

The areas above have the largest risk of getting a M 6.0+ Quake during the period. These dates are extremely risky and may lead to an earthquake much larger, perhaps M 8.0+. Dec. 24 should be watched very closely, areas shaded in reds and oranges have the greatest risks for seeing a powerful and damaging quake. (Due to the high risk of these period, there are several active areas in red)

UPDATE #5...12/29 @ 11:28 AM

EARTHQUAKE WARNING FOR DECEMBER 30

We got through the major risk dates of December 23-27 largely unscathed by earthquakes, where winter storms took the spotlight then. Now as we approach tomorrow, December 30, we have a dangerous "lone date" in which major earthquake disasters often take place! This could be the deal-breaker date this month and just to be safe, the period of concern should begin with today all the way through New Year's Eve (12/29 - 12/31), with 12/30 being the big risk date. This date is capable of bringing the world a M 7.0 - 8.0 Earthquake with probable severe impacts. See the map below for areas I believe may be at greatest risk:

Valid Dec 29 - Dec 31 2013, Main Risk Day: Dec 30

The areas enclosed above have a risk of seeing a Damaging M 6.0+ Earthquake, with areas in Blue having Low Risk, areas in Green having Medium Risk, areas in Orange having Significant Risk, and areas in Red having the Highest Risk.
